A Baton Group local to Northern Bedford, is nothing new to this area. There has always been a group. For example, “A Touch of Class” taught by Kim Clark, “Pizzazz” taught by Susan Van Orman Resh and “Xelle” taught by Mandi Cottle. In 2008, Xelle expanded by offering dance lessons. The thought behind this was so that parents could bring their child or children to one location and get two separate lessons if they chose. In 2019, Xelle would conclude and new ownership would occur in 2020. Chelsy Hart took the step of becoming the new successor of the local New Enterprise Group and this is how Hart in Motion was formed. For four years, baton and dance would continue but in 2024, Hart in Motion would expand! Not only would we offer baton and dance classes but also began offering cheer and acro (tumbling) classes! We are proud to offer four separate classes for children to attend all in one night, all in one location!

Chelsy lives in New Enterprise with her husband Zach and their two children Weston (17) and Eliana (12). She is employed full time as a Sales Customer Coordinator, owner of Chelsy Hart Photography part time and assists her husband’s business, Hart’s Lawn Care.
She also enjoys watching her children in their various activities they participate in. Weston plays soccer, runs cross country, kicks for footbal and runs in track. Eliana plays soccer, jumps in track and competes in gymnastics.
In her spare time, she likes to go kayaking and fishing on the river with her family, deer hunting in the fall, going to the beach in the summer, enjoys spending time with all her nieces and nephews and hanging around the house with her 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, and 6 chickens.
Chelsy’s experience began at three years old when she joined the Majorette Group, Touch of Class. After two years, the baton group was no longer in existence and that is when her dance experience began. She attended Body Language Dance Studio in Bedford under the instruction of Gail Koppenhaver and later Gail’s daughter Kristen Kauffman, current owner of GK Dance Company also in Bedford. For nine years, she participated in tap, ballet and jazz. Chelsy’s favorite of the three is tap, hands down. Throughout high school, she cheered and danced on the football and basketball cheerleading squads. She assisted in choreographing dance routines for both squads.
Her experience teaching began in 2008, with the very same local group, Xelle with Mandi. She was a dance instructor for five years; two years as an assistant and three years as the lead instructor. At the end of the 2012 season, she departed from Xelle to pursue her photography business. She continues in the wedding and high school senior photography business, but on a lesser level.
Chelsy stated, “I enjoy photography and being behind the camera, but I felt with the opportunity I was presented, that it was the right time to make the switch back because of my love for dance. I want children to experience the same joy and excitement I did when I would go to practices and perform in front of an audience. I feel that dancing, twirling, cheering or tumbling can provide children with a multitude of characteristics like having rhythm and grace, gaining confidence, and a feeling as if they have somewhere to belong. I am looking forward to this new adventure and am very thankful for this opportunity. I cannot wait to see where this group goes and how it will grow because my goals and dreams are big for the studio and I know the possibilities are endless!”
The Studio offers lessons to school age children beginning as young as 3 years of age. We offer classes in dance, acro and baton. Classes are each 30-60 minutes in length. Practices are held Tuesday evenings between 5:00-8:00 pm at the Southern Cove Fire Company Building formerly known as the Replogle School in New Enterprise in the Northern Bedford School District. They also provide the opportunity to participate in five to six fundraisers to assist in offsetting the costs of batons, uniforms, costumes and dance shoes.
